Erik Kiser, Founder, and CEOAt the forefront of this transition is Orderful, a complete Modern EDI Platform for logistics providers, manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and technology companies. Allowing clients to replace antiquated EDI processes, Orderful enables them to drastically reduce the time taken to onboard new trading partners.
“While other EDI providers go live with new supply chain connections for their trading partners in about eight to 12 weeks, Orderful can onboard new trading partners in less than nine days,” says Erik Kiser, founder, and CEO of Orderful.
Orderful’s platform has an integration assistance feature that eliminates the need for enterprises to build a custom file format for each trading partner and allows compiling various EDI requirements into a single API payload, be it for Walmart, Amazon, or Costco. Once integrated into an enterprise resource planning (ERP) or transportation management system (TMS), Orderful automatically validates, converts, and communicates relevant data on the customer’s behalf. Instead of sending a transaction to a trading partner by email and having someone manually validate it, which may take weeks, Orderful creates digitized EDI guidelines which can automatically validate transactions and give feedback in real time. This prevents users from getting bogged down by feedback loops and simplifies the process of troubleshooting data errors. In addition, its APIs automatically convert JSON payloads into a best-suited format that aligns with a trade partner’s needs.
One of the world’s largest privately-held companies, Koch Industries, recently approached Orderful to support their ERP/ TMS implementation and ensure the smooth onboarding of 400 carriers. Orderful achieved Koch’s onboarding goals within the desired time and budget using its single API approach that enabled efficient integration and enable Koch to set up self-service onboarding for its partners. Orderful published Koch’s API guidelines along with the desired testing specifications so carriers could integrate and validate their data against Koch-specific requirements on their own. Once a partner passed the test, they went live immediately, eliminating conventional back-and-forth processes associated with EDI onboarding and decreasing the volume of emails and phone conversations. Within a year, Orderful launched 400 trading partners, which could have taken at least three or four years with Koch’s previous setup.
Koch consumes data from the Orderful platform through the API embedded into their TMS, which enables them conveniently monitor transactions from their internal systems. Using Orderful, Koch gets more clarity and visibility into their supply chain processes, allowing them to be more accountable in ensuring their shipments are processed and delivered on time. Orderful now runs millions of transactions monthly through its platform for Koch.![]()
